Languages Canada welcomes new team member

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Lindsey to the Languages Canada team as Director of International Affairs and Operation. She brings to the role 15 years of experience in international education, development and trade, primarily with Universities Canada, as well as Global Affairs Canada.

As Director of International Affairs and Operations Rachel will oversee all endeavours in international relations and marketing for the association.  She will also be responsible for operations including human resources and project management and coordination.

Most recently, Rachel held the position of Senior Analyst with Universities Canada’s International Relations team, where she was the lead on strategic international partnerships and projects in key markets such as Brazil, Mexico, and India, as well as the oversight of Universities Canada's national network of International Liaison Officers. This work involved managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects; overseeing geographically dispersed teams; cultivating partnerships across Canada and abroad; negotiating international agreements; monitoring and analyzing internationalization trends; and serving as the face and voice of a national association in a variety of public contexts.

Rachel has worked closely with Languages Canada over the past four years, striving to align the internationalization efforts of Canada's language and university sectors in strategic partner countries. Most notably, in 2014, Rachel worked closely with the Languages Canada team on the coordination of the Canada-Brazil Language, Education, and the Workforce Forum. She has also collaborated with Languages Canada on several other initiatives in Brazil, Mexico and via the Canadian Consortium for International Education.

Rachel left Universities Canada in 2016 following a decision to relocate back to her hometown of Rossland, B.C. with her young family. She looks forward to working with Languages Canada members in upholding the association as the internationally recognized mark of excellence in language education, and the promotion of Canada as the number one destination for English and French language education. She can be reached at rlindsey@languagescanada.ca

Rachel possesses a Bachelors of Commerce from Carleton University (Ottawa) and a Masters of Science in Development Management from the London School of Economics (London, UK.).

Thank you for joining us in welcoming Rachel to the team.
